Very often, when thinking or planning for the future, my mind wanders off to situations where my plan may not work. Mostly, it is the question, “Am I doing the right thing?” which initiates the chain of thoughts. When my mind encounters such situations, I mostly renew the plan or completely change it (though it is very less likely).

Today, when going through a similar chain of thoughts, I somehow came across the idea of “being in the moment”. It was when I broke it down, that I realized something whoppingly overwhelming. Although it was not the first time that this idea was encountered me but the realization was such that I felt it was worth sharing about in my very first blog ever.

The thing is, that what may happen in the future highly depends on the present. It is not completely true, I agree. There may be factors more than that. The world is, of course, far more complicated than simplifying it all to a mere statement ‘the future is made by the present’. Yes, it does, but not entirely.

Having said that, even if the future is not entirely affected by the present our best shot to get the desired result (or make something happen) in the future, is to do something for it now. If you want to reach the mountain top, you’ve got to start moving towards it.

And this is where a single thought came in, which prompted me to write this blog. The thought was (and still is), “By making the best out of the present moment, we not only increase the likeliness of a better future but also ensure a less shitty past.”

For example, let us say you are roaming around in a city you have just arrived in and you are looking for something to eat. If you are short of cash, assume a hundred Rupee note. You go to a regular food shop (where they give entire lunch for just 80 bucks). At the entrance of the food store, you encounter a beggar, skinny from starvation, wearing a worn-out shirt. What would you do?

I’ll tell you what I did in the next blog. That would be it for this one. Any comments are appreciated.
